Slow down some in saying the words. It's hard to hear, at least for me, all the vowel sounds properly.

I have a hard time understanding the correct pronunciation because it is spoken too fast. It would be beneficial for two pronunciations per phrase or word...one at normal speed that locals speak with and a slower version for beginners so they can properly understand the correct pronunciation and then practice the normal or fast way of speaking

See, I took six months of japanese class and still continued to read through the second book. So I know many of the words and I can say many sentences. But what messing me up is hearing the words and even though I know most of them, I am not use to hearing them at all! So far it screws me up to take the quizes when I hear the words! Wow! Its going to take awhile to get to use too! This is very affective.

@shiinji014, There were some words in the historical site lesson that knocked me out was the seshetei which means rock garden. However when I saw the word being spelled it was spelled like se ki tei. Otokonoshito when that is spelled like otokono HI to and well french fries and eating in were right but wow!! fridokototo an tennaeteberuke was said way to fast. Woah. My favorite I like is isukuremu and basuketoboru are the awsomest!!

I think the speed is fine. It helps you hear which letters to blend. Just read the hiragana or the romaji if you want the syllable by syllable pronunciation. I mean, I have the same problem when I'm trying to listen to native speakers & talk back.. I always mis-understand my boss. But you only get better if you try. Things can't be too easy all the time. There needs to be a challenge, or else we'll just stay the same.

@ggsoulsister, I agree with what Jamie said. If you ever get a chance to go to Japan, you'll find many people say words quicker than they do on this site, and they will not pronounce their words letter at a time. If you learn the Hiragana and Katakana alphabets, they will help you IMMENSELY. Not only with reading but also with your pronunciation and with your vocab memory. Hearing this stuff slowed down will honestly be more of a hindrance than a help.

@Partario arigato. Wakarimashita! Hiragana to katakana o Wakarimashita. Even though the speaker speaks fast its still hard to comprehend!
