Convenience stores

Just as their name states, convenience stores in Japan are extremely convenient! If you stay in Japan longer than a few days, you will quickly realize why convenience stores are so vital to life in Japan.

Hi Kevin and Aaron, I REALLY like this way of learning and I am fussy because I am, in fact, a specialist EAL teacher. I am having problems with the quiz though...I tried it and it takes too long for the photos to reload on each page when clicking through vocabulary. My results were slow because of the computer speed, not because of my ability. Anyway, I do really like this method and I especially like your videos on culture. Thank you for all your efforts! This is great! Viviane

@Vivi, Thanks for the compliments. I'm glad you're enjoying the site. About the quiz feature, if you flip through all of the photos in "Learn" mode once before starting the quiz, the photos should appear more quickly. But we appreciate the feedback and will look into ways to make the photos load quicker. Thanks again :)

@RenSama, cool! I'm happy to hear you're getting something useful out of the site. If you're looking for a quick run through of how to put sentences together, Aaron and I have a fun little course called "Ninja Japanese Sentence Formula" that goes through all of that. It also covers verb and adjective conjugation, particles, and levels of formality. If you're interested, you can find more information at http://www.sentenceformula.com.

I like this idea, but I don't know if anyone can actually learn Japanese this way. Japanese vocab maybe, but there aren't sentences or grammar points in any of these lessons.

@jonlink, Hi jonlink. We are working diligently on a neat way to introduce grammar. Should be out in a month or two. What you are seeing now is just the beginning :) In the meantime, we have a useful Japanese grammar video series for sale. People can also check-out Tae Kim's excellent grammar guide.

Hey AaronL thank you for this wonderful website. I would also love to formulate japanese sentences together for conversations with people. I guess when you speak japanese for the 1st time your bound to mess up when you don't know how. Should I checkout "Ninja Japanese Sentence Formula" for proper ways of speaking?

@ggsoulsister, Thanks! We are working on some grammar-related features, but in the meantime you might want to check-out the Ninja Japanese Sentence Formula which covers grammar in an easy to digest way. You might also want to check-out Tae Kim's grammar website. Hope this helps!

On the very last slide in "learn" for the convenience store, the word I am assuming is "to read" or something close to that is missing from the vocabulary list..... help Thanks,Susan

@susanh, I looked into your issue and think I figured it out. When you click the 'vocabulary list' link the window will pop-up. Sometimes on lessons with a lot of words like this one you will need to scroll down to view all of the words. Look for the scroll bar on the right of the popup box. If you don't see it, you might want to try using an Internet browser such as Firefox or Chrome. Please let us know by emailing support[at]speekit.com if you are still having issues. Thanks! Best, Aaron

Brilliant stuff. I always look for fun different ways to learn Japanese and this is definitely going down as one to remember. Stringing them together in a sentence will be hard but knowing the words is an excellent start. Thanks!
